Self esteem.

wikipedia defines self esteem in this manner:

In psychology, self-esteem reflects a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of her or his own worth.

Self-esteem encompasses beliefs (for example, "I am competent/incompetent") and emotions (for example, triumph/despair, pride/shame). Behavior may reflect self-esteem (for example, assertiveness/timorousness, confidence/caution).

Psychologists usually regard self-esteem as an enduring personality characteristic (trait self-esteem), though normal, short-term variations (state self-esteem) occur.

Self-esteem can apply specifically to a particular dimension (for example, "I believe I am a good writer, and feel proud of that in particular") or have global extent (for example, "I believe I am a good person, and feel proud of myself in general").

While looking at myself regarding my own self esteem gauge and how it effects my relationships, I realize that there's work to be done.

Belief esteem: I think I am 80% competent in the endeavors I take on.
Emotion esteem: I'm at about 75%.
Behavior esteem: About 85% I would say.

These reflect relationships as they pertain to family, friends, work etc. However, if I look at the percentages as it pertains to relationships pertaining to the opposite sex, this is what I find:

Belief esteem: 20%.
Emotion esteem: 10%.
Behavior esteem: 5%.

Having strong self esteem is a good thing as long as we don't become to cocky about ourselves as it relates to other people. If reading articles and blogs about relationships has taught me anything, it's taught me that I don't really know all that much about it. Just thought I'd share a little bit of this insight with you guys.

How's your self esteem?

Ok, I'm off to the grind of figuring out relationships a bit better.
