Why I blog and what I blog

The past few days I found myself asking the question, “Why do I blog”? I know why many others do because they say it on their blogs, so why not me too? I figured that I’d also explain what I blog about and the reason I’m drawn to this topic.

I have been online now for some years mainly dealing with forums and some pen pal sites. I made quite a few friends from all different parts of the world and although I have traveled a little in the past, I didn’t as much as I wanted to. Well, on one of the sites that was based about Thai culture, I made so many friends and had many requests to come join them in Thailand, I just decided to give it a try. So, all by myself I made the trip to Thailand and found that it was well worth the decision to go!

I don’t want to elaborate too much on the Thailand experience because you can always go and read about it and see the pictures on my website here. An interesting thing that I did notice about the Thailand experience was that I met new friends right here in NYC that had the same interest. It’s kind of funny in a way that I would meet, what would become, so many good friends that live so near to me, but only met them because we all had an interest in a place thousands of miles away. If I’m not mistaken, this could happen through blogging as well.

As the boom in blogging came to my attention, I decided to look around and see what it was all about. At first, I thought it was more of a writing type arena. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had so much more to it. If you had a hobby, you could blog it. If you liked fashion, you could blog that too. As a matter of fact, you could blog anything that interested you and reach an audience because others with the same interests were blogging also. Not surprisingly, there are blog “get togethers” which certainly interests me, although I haven’t zeroed in on where they are in my vicinity-yet!

So I guess I’m saying that the ability and opportunity to meet other like-minded people in my area is at the forefront of my blogging experience, as well as the online camaraderie and friendship. This, I believe, is as good a reason as any to become a blogger.

The reason I chose to blog about relationships, and more commonly, romantic relationships? I guess the answer lies in all of us to an extent. I like to know what makes a relationship work and why, as well as the attributes that make a relationship go wrong.

I get asked advice a lot for some reason, probably because I enjoy watching people interact, and seem to have a mature insight to problems that couples can have. I always try to give people an honest and well thought out assessment of the situation and what I believe can be done to help it. It seems to me that we have the same problems again and again so the answers are readily there just waiting for the question to be asked.

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell folks, although I will say that I plan on learning new things in blogs as I go forward, as I have so far since I started blogging. There are some very talented and knowledgeable bloggers around and I really enjoy sharing experiences and insight with them. Yeah, this is why I blog (and what I blog).
